TitleKolb Learning Style Inventory
ShortDescriptionA 12-item questionnaire and workbook which identifies preferred learning styles and explores their implications for: - Problem solving, teamwork, and conflict resolution - Communication - Matching preferences to careers This guide can help educators design learning events to appeal to all learning style preferences.
LongDescriptionEveryone has a preferred way of learning, or a 'learning style'. Some of us are more balanced in our learning preferences than others. This has implications for each person's learning, and also how each person works with others. When you're working with other people, the more you understand about the way they learn things the more you'll be able to help. As a leader in a group you need to be aware of your own style too, because it has implications for the impact you make on the team. Without acknowledging your own style you may encourage the team to focus on issues from a certain perspective and miss the opportunities that result from different approaches. A team has a collective learning style of its own. As their leader, your job is to guide them and help them to understand their strengths and potential weaknesses or blind spots associated with their learning styles. There are four phases in the learning process: - Experiencing - Observation - Thinking - Action We all have preferences for some phases over others. We may stay in one too long, or skip another entirely. This test shows the user what their preference is, and how to leverage and manage it. The test can be paper-based or taken online. The test takes 20-30 minutes. Cost is $105 for 10 booklets, $15 per on-line assessment.
